We've been asked every question imaginable. Here's the FAQ couples need to know.
How long does it take to get our wedding film?
Our trailers are delivered online within 4 to 6 weeks, often within the first month, so you can relive the day and share it while everything still feels fresh. Feature films and full collections are delivered within 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the season.
We already have 2 photographers. Will adding 2 filmmakers feel like paparazzi?
Not at all. We do not stand in your face with a camera all day. Our approach is calm and unobtrusive, and we use longer lenses whenever possible so we can capture moments naturally as they unfold. The goal is for you to stay present and enjoy the day, not feel like you are performing for the camera.
Do you offer social media content creation?
Yes. Couples kept asking for it, so we built it. Content by Hoo Films is our dedicated social media content team. It's a natural extension of what we already do. If you're trusting us with your wedding film, adding content creation means the same team, the same eye, and the same storytelling. Now delivered immediately!
How many hours of coverage do you recommend?
We typically recommend 8-10 hours for a single day wedding. We start about an hour before getting ready and stay through your last major reception event. Your final timeline will shape the exact hours, and we are happy to talk through what makes sense for your day.
How do you record audio throughout the day?
We mic the groom and officiant for clear ceremony audio and also patch into the house sound when available. For speeches, we connect to the DJ or band’s system so we can capture the cleanest possible reception audio.
Who chooses the music?
We license all music for our trailers through professional music libraries. We handle the selection process, but you are always welcome to share suggestions or point us toward a style you love.
Do we get the raw footage?
Raw footage is available a la carte. For most couples, the real value is simply having peace of mind knowing they own everything we captured. We spend hours sorting through the footage so you do not have to, but if you would like a copy of it all, that can absolutely be added.
How long will our film be?
It depends on the story your wedding day gives us. Film length is shaped by your timeline, your vows and speeches, and the overall flow of events. We can give you an estimate once we know more about your plans, but the final length is based on what best serves the film.
What if we are too private to have our vows online?
No problem. Many couples prefer to keep more private moments offline. We can absolutely reserve the most personal lines, inside jokes, or emotional audio for your feature film instead.
How do cinematic wedding films differ from traditional videography?
A cinematic wedding film is crafted more like a short film than a recap. It uses intentional storytelling, natural audio, thoughtful pacing, cinematic camera movement, and refined color to create something emotional and immersive, not just a document of what happened.
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Southern California?
Wedding videography in Orange County typically ranges from $3,000 to $12,500+. We offer customized Collections starting at $7,900 for single-day coverage to full wedding weekends. All collections include drone coverage and a feature film.
How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 12-18 months out, especially for peak season dates. We recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date and venue locked in, as availability goes quickly.
Do you travel for destination weddings?
Absolutely. We have filmed destination weddings in Paris, Ireland, Montage Healdsburg, Santa Barbara, and locations across Mexico, the East Coast, and beyond. Travel fees vary by location and are outlined in your collection proposal.
Do I need a wedding videographer?
Yes. Couples who skip it say it's their #1 biggest wedding regret.
It's the one thing they wish they hadn’t skipped. Photos show you what your wedding looked like. A film gives you what it felt like. The crack in your partner's voice during vows. The way your dad looked at you when you walked in.
Your day will move faster than you think it will. Most couples remember almost none of it clearly. Especially the ceremony and the speeches… without video, those words exist once and then they're gone.
That's what a film is for.
